France 24 and DOTSCREEN announce the launch of the France 24 application in BMW Group vehicles in Europe and the United States
France 24, the international news channel of the France Médias Monde group, and DOTSCREEN, a European agency specializing in the design and development of multiscreen applications, announce the official launch of the France 24 application on the platformDTS AutoStage Video Service, Powered by TiVo, which is fitted in most BMW Group vehicles (BMW, Mini, etc.).
This application marks a new milestone in France 24’s innovation strategy, reinforcing its presence on connected devices and bringing it closer to its audiences wherever they are on the move.
A smooth and intuitive experience, designed for the automobile
Designed and developed by DOTSCREEN, the France 24 application has been built entirely around in-car use: a simple, safe, and ergonomic touchscreen interface that gives access in just a few gestures to the latest news, video bulletins, and France 24’s live stream in its four broadcast languages: French, English, Arabic, and Spanish.
From the moment the vehicle starts, the user is greeted with a clean home screen displaying the France 24 live stream in a window, the latest video bulletins, and a simplified vertical menu comprising Home, Most Watched, and Settings sections.
Content can be viewed in full screen with controls adapted to the automotive environment. Language switching is instant from the Settings menu, with full support for Arabic and its right-to-left display format.
A further step in vehicle connectivity
With this integration, drivers and passengers in BMW vehicles will be able to follow major international events and the latest news live from their dashboard, enjoying a high-quality, stable, and secure audiovisual experience via the TiVo-powered platform.
This collaboration between France 24, DOTSCREEN, and Xperi (the parent company of DTS and TiVo) illustrates the convergence of media and connected mobility, and paves the way for new ways of consuming news in an automotive context.
“With this launch, France 24 continues its international public service mission: to inform everywhere, at all times. Integrating our channel into the BMW/Mini ecosystem via Xperi’s technology strengthens our presence in connected mobility,” said Serge Schick, Director of International Development and Own Resources – Member of the Executive Committee of France Médias Monde.
“We are proud to support France 24 in this innovation that combines mobility, performance, and a tailored user interface. This application perfectly illustrates our expertise in creating multiscreen experiences adapted to each environment — particularly mobility — and foreshadows new forms of audiovisual consumption inside the autonomous vehicle,” added Stanislas Leridon, President of DOTSCREEN.
